Drumstick Brands

Buy A Drumstick Brand And You'll Join A Family Of Drummers

There are a number of great drumstick brands on the market and buying the right one is a simple and easy task as long as you follow a couple of my tips.

Two Top Tips When Buying Your Drumsticks

  1. Where ever possible try to stick to and buy drumstick brands.  The cheaper no named brands may have a more appealing price tag but you will find you'll be replacing them more regularly.  Also the named brands due to their expertise and manufacturing process will 9 time out of 10 produce a better well balanced and even pair of drumsticks
  2. HOT TIP - When you go to a music shop to try out different drumsticks make sure you test them for imperfections.  To do this roll the drumstick(s) on a flat surface checking carefully to make sure they are DEAD STRAIGHT.  Even the big drumstick producers can sometime times let the quality slide slightly, well there are working with natural materials so we can let them off sometimes!

Drumstick Brands

Here are just a few brands that are definitely worth trying out.

Vic Firth - What can we say, brilliant and reliable drumsticks used by drummers such as Thomas Lang so you'd be in good company, don't let Lang influence you as they are the drumstick brands of choice for many drummers including myself (apologies for putting myself in the 'great' category!).

Zildjian - As well as quality cymbals they also make great sticks to.  Some of them look really flash too, try some out and you won't be disappointed.

Pro-Mark - Another good choice of drumstick that will serve you well for a long time.

Ahead - to the 22nd Century.  Precision crafted of aircraft grade aluminum with super durable, replaceable shaft covers, Ahead drumsticks are the choice of today's hardest hitting drummers on stage and studio.  Expensive but good for loud music.

Now you are armed with this essential guide go down and to your local music store and try out some drumsticks!  And if you are feeling like being really flash then why not check out glow drumsticks, they can be fun to play with and will certainly brighten up your playing!  Although I do have to point out there more for show than technique so be careful if you get a set of glow drumsticks.
